Shut up and Listen

03’49, Israel, 2021

Director, Choreography & Editing: Maayan Reiter, Dancers: Roni Sagi, Maayan Reiter

This video-dance emphasizes a universal need of all human beings: the need to be heard. Two people engage in a dialog in words and dance. When we are in pain, the mere fact that another person is listening with empathy can make a difference.

Maayan Reiter is a dancer, video creator, motion designer, choreographer, and Contact Improvisation teacher based in Cologne, Germany. She trained in contemporary dance at SEAD – Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance, and is currently studying Integrated Design at KISD – Köln International School of Design. There, she’s been exploring new ways to combine dance with technology, applying her extensive knowledge of filmmaking. While creating her own work, Maayan also collaborates with various artists around Europe. She aspires to create a space in which performer and audience can find a deep connection that challenges their presumptions and, hopefully, offers some solace in an increasingly alienated world.

The film will be part of the screening on 29.10.2022, 17:00-18:30, Festival and Congress Centre – Varna.
