Insomnia: Violent nights (2021) explores violent waking life events as experienced in the dream insomniac state through dance and bodily movement. Using hand drawn animation and archival footage it takes us into the labyrinth of ancient forces battling oppression through dance and cosmic encounters. 


Emilia Izquierdo is an artist based in London, UK working in experimental film using hand drawn animation and archival film footage. She has an MFA from the Slade school of Fine Art, London. MA Art and Politics/Film & Screen Studies at Goldsmiths University, London. She regularly exhibits her work in experimental film festivals, video dance festivals, residencies and exhibitions around the world.


The film will be part of the screening on 29.10.2022, 17:00-18:30, Festival and Congress Centre – Varna.
